Kathryn O'Rourke, Ph.D.

Kathryn O’Rourke received her B.A. in 体系结构 from Wellesley College and her M.A. 和Ph值.D. in the History of 艺术 from the University of Pennsylvania. She is a historian of modern 体系结构 whose interests include many subjects in Latin America, 美国, 和欧洲.
教授 O’Rourke is the author of Modern 体系结构 in Mexico City: History, 表示, and the Shaping of a Capital (University of Pittsburgh Press, 2016), which received the Alice Davis Hitchcock Award from the Society of Architectural Historians. She is currently at work on two book projects: Archaism and Liberalism in Modern 体系结构, and a short survey of modern 体系结构 in Texas (University of Texas Press), as well as invited essays on Felix Candela, and race and historiography in 19th-century U.S. 体系结构.
Her other scholarship includes articles on Mexican architectural rationalism and health care reform, Ludwig Mies van der Rohe’s work in Latin America, the art of Diego Rivera, and architectural postmodernism on the Texas Gulf Coast. She has contributed essays to Frida Kahlo’s Garden, O’Neil Ford and Arch Swank: The Little Chapel in the Woods, 平台, and Oxford Bibliographies in 体系结构, 规划, 和保存.

Prior to joining the faculty at 澳门金沙线上赌博官网, she taught architectural history at Swarthmore College.
From 2016 to 2020 教授 O’Rourke served as secretary of the Society of Architectural Historians. For six years she served on the State Board of Review of the Texas Historical Commission, four of them as vice-chair. She currently serves on the board of directors of Centro 圣安东尼奥 and is the inaugural chair of its Urban 规划 and Development Committee. She sits on the 访问ing Committee on Latin American 艺术 at the 圣安东尼奥 Museum of 艺术, and is a founder and the president of Design|Forum, a 圣安东尼奥 non-profit.
